Hopes Newsletter Buzz

August is now here and hopefully we are now moving toward weather that is less than 100 degrees, or at least feels like 100 degrees. August is also a time when school starts back, something I am sure the kids are not excited about, but come to think of it most of them say they are ready to head back to school. August well is also a time for a new small group to begin. You have heard me talk about it, if you attend Hope Community Church, if not; the group is called “Celebrate Recovery”. This group will be an ongoing group that helps individuals deal with addictions they may have, and lets face it, I think all of us have some kind of hang ups that control our lives and enslave us. In a recent brochure I listed questions to ask yourself if this group would be for you, so here are those questions again:
Do you have trouble setting limits for yourself?
Do you sacrifice your identity, desires or needs to make others feel good about themselves or to keep the peace?
Do you struggle feeling safe when you aren’t in control?
Do you raise your voice to get your way?
Do you act kind on the outside, but feel bitter on the inside?
Do you use food, sex/pornography, relationships, alcohol or drugs to cope with life’s problems?
Do you struggle with your body image?
Do you love someone struggling with destructive behaviors, such as pornography, drugs or alcohol?
Do you live with someone who abuses you physically, sexually or emotionally or feel the continued effects from past traumas and abuse?
Don’t give up! There is Hope…
And there is Hope and I truly believe that Celebrate Recovery can help you take the steps needed for spiritual and physical healing. Group starts August 5th at 6:30 pm.
At the time of the news letter we are just finishing up our summer activities and are now looking forward to what we will do through the fall and winter. You know there is always something going on at Hope. One activity that I am sure you will want to be part of is the signing of the deed to our land over to Hope Community Church. We are trying to schedule this event in October look for more developing information for this event. I hope it will be cool enough then.
I ask that you please be in prayer for those in our community that are being affected by our struggling economy, and for the important elections that are coming up. We have those that now having to make difficult decision of weather to move and relocate, because of job situation, to those that cannot find gainful employment. Please be in prayer for our brothers and sisters that are facing these tough decisions. I know that God is sovereign and in control and that anything that comes in our lives are for His glory. At the writing of this news letter some of the group from Hope went to hear a Muslim converted to Christianity give his testimony, and through his hardships that he went through resulted in him being able to say thank you and bless you to his enemies. This is something very hard for us to understand, but as a result of his suffering many Church’s are in existence and Christian schools are now in Pakistan. What a great testimony of what the enemy meant for evil God used for good. (Romans 8:28)
I Love you Guys, byron
